Back When I was Young... (pt 1)
For the record, I retired from GameStop back in April of 2025, so this blog is unlikely to have any more technical articles. If you've visited here before, thank you for your patronage. And now, on to the subject of this post...
... I had a paper route when I was young. I used to deliver the Reading Eagle to various homes in Bally, PA in my early teens, way before I could drive. Wasn't too bad, except when the weather was bad. As an introvert, I hated when I had to collect payment.
My first car was a 1967 Chevrolet Belair, a 4-door that I got from my maternal grandfather. Didn't have it long, as I unfortunately crashed it going up Crow Hill. in the rain. It was a 283 V8 with a 3-speed manual transmission ("three on the tree"). As I was going up hill, I had to downshift and that caused the back end to slide out and put me into the hill on the right. Probably for the best, since the left side of the road had a steep drop off, which could have been much worse.
